Saint Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary has received a grant of $1,000,000 from the Lilly Endowment’s Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative, which is intended to help theological schools across the United States and Canada strengthen their educational and financial capacities to prepare and support pastoral leaders for Christian congregations both now and into the future.

The Seminary’s grant proposal, entitled “Saint Sophia 2.0”, is an educational outreach program to the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and to all her faithful in parish communities across the nation.  As an ancillary offering to the more formal graduate academic degree programs presently conducted by the seminary, the program will develop and disseminate online video content to the faithful of all Ukrainian Orthodox parishes in the United States, supplementing parish education, and to the wider public where interest in the ancient Orthodox Faith and its historical authenticity is rapidly growing. In addition, continuing education courses will be developed and conducted for the clergy of the UOC of USA enriching their education, personal spiritual development and pastoral responsibility. The goal for this new education platform is to reach into ALL the parishes of the UOC of USA and the participation of ALL the clergy serving in those parishes or in any other capacity in the life of the Church.

Saint Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary is one of 163 theological schools that have received grants since 2021 through the Pathways initiative. Together, the schools serve a broad spectrum of Christian traditions in the U.S. and Canada. They are affiliated with evangelical, mainline Protestant, nondenom-inational, Pentecostal, Orthodox, Catholic, Black church, Latino, Asian American, Indigenous and historic peace church traditions.

Українська Православна Богословська Семінарія Святого Софії отримала грант у розмірі 1,000,000 доларів США від програми Lilly Endowment “Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative”, яка покликана допомогти богословським школам по всіх Сполучених Штатах і Канаді зміцнити свої освітні та фінансові можливості для підготовки й підтримки духовних лідерів, що служитимуть християнським громадам сьогодні та в майбутньому.

Грантова пропозиція семінарії під назвою «Saint Sophia 2.0» є освітньою ініціативою, спрямованою на духовенство Української Православної Церкви та на всіх її вірних у парафіяльних громадах по всій країні. Як додаток до формальних магістерських академічних програм, які семінарія вже проводить, проєкт передбачає створення та поширення онлайн-відеоконтенту для всіх українських православних парафій у США, доповнюючи парафіяльну освіту, а також для ширшої аудиторії, де інтерес до давньої Православної віри та її історичної автентичності стрімко зростає.

Крім того, будуть розроблені та проведені курси підвищення кваліфікації для духовенства УПЦ США, які поглиблять їхню освіту, особистий духовний розвиток та пастирську відповідальність. Мета цієї нової освітньої платформи - охопити УСІ парафії УПЦ США та забезпечити участь УСЬОГО духовенства, яке служить у цих парафіях або в будь-якій іншій формі церковного служіння.
